She turned around for her dream during the summer vacation of her second year of high school and began to receive art system training. Her journey to pursue her dreams seems to be more difficult than that of ordinary people.

Chen Kexin, who has been a “school master” since childhood, successfully advanced to Shantou Jinshan Middle School, a famous school in eastern Guangdong after the high school entrance examination, and once won the first place in the liberal arts of the school. She has always been a good girl at home, but in the first semester of her senior year, she made a decision that stunned her parents, teachers and classmates – embarked on the road of art exams with an uncertain future. Chen Kexin said that this decision was “just to grasp my own life”, and everything about it starts with her childhood designer dream…

Chen Kexin, wearing two small braids, a pair of round-frame glasses, and a white shirt, looked full of vitality. In her conversation with reporters, she also showed her extroverted and cheerful side. According to Chen Kexin’s recollection, like many of her peers, she was in kindergarten at the age of four or five, and her parents enrolled her in art interest class for the first time. She picked up her brush and fell in love with this art at that time.

“Since childhood, I have had a lot of things I like to do, but only painting has been persisted all the way.” Chen Kexin told reporters that she is the only daughter in the family, and her parents work in government agencies and financial systems respectively. Her tutoring since childhood made her a very conscious good girl. Her parents also designed a steady growth trajectory for her early in the morning – to be admitted to a prestigious university and become a financial worker after graduation. Painting is just a kind of extracurricular interest to learn.

Chen Kexin’s father also told reporters that his daughter has been very conscious and sensible since she was a child. He no longer had to worry about her studies since she was in the second grade. “Every time she finishes her homework, she will check it carefully several times. I also told her that she should check it herself, and if she does something wrong, she will be punished by herself.” Chen Kexin’s father said that it is precisely because of this awareness and seriousness that his daughter can rank among the top in the class in every exam and advance to school.After Jinshan Middle School, he even passed the first place in the liberal arts in the school in his first year of high school.

But the father thought his daughter would follow his own ideas and go smoothly, but Babaylan learned in the first semester of Chen Kexin that his daughter decided to embark on the road of art exams and strive for the dream of a designer that she had laid in her childhood.

“My first reaction was surprise!” Chen Kexin’s father told reporters that he was opposed at the beginning. After all, there were too many uncertainties in the art exam, and Kexin had not received systematic art training. It can be said that it was “zero foundation”, and the risk of taking this path was too great. But Kexin said that she didn’t want to keep following the path set by her parents for her. She hoped that she could grasp her life by herself, insist on doing what she liked, and realize her childhood dream.

I hope to make the world better

When dreams conflict with reality, should we obey our parents’ arrangements or stick to our original dreams? Chen Kexin admitted that she had once struggled, but when she calmed down and slowly listened to the true voice deep in her heart, the dream that had been laid in her childhood made her resolutely choose the art exam path.

It turns out that since Chen Kexin came into contact with painting in a kindergarten interest class, she fell in love with it uncontrollably. After entering elementary school, Chen Kexin was no longer satisfied with just simple painting, but began to design the plot and integrate her thoughts into the painting.

Even in the third grade of elementary school, she began to create a comic strip called “Rainbow Flower”. Chen Kexin said that this work was popular among students as soon as it was born, and everyone rushed to circulate it. Looking forward to Kexin’s updates every week. For a time, competing to read the comic “Rainbow FlowersKomiks” became a great pleasure for students’ extracurricular life, and the students also called Chen Kexin “little painters”.

The reporter saw that there are five comics called “Rainbow Flower”, each with about 50 pages. Whether in terms of illustration layout or text design, this comic is almost the same as published comic books. “It was not until junior high school that the update stopped. Later, some classmates asked if there were any updates,” said Chen Kexin.

However, being a “painter” is not Chen Kexin’s dream since childhood. Her real dream is to be a designer. Speaking of this, Chen Kexin smiled embarrassedly and said that her original dream of designer Komiks was probably due to her greed when she was a child. Every time she passed by a bakery, she would drool at the piping cakes in the window. When she was Cinema, she would say to herself, “I will design such a beautiful cake in the future!”

As she grew older, Chen Kexin’s design dream also developed from the initial design of beautiful cakes to the later becoming a fashion designer and jewelry designer. In high school, Komiks Chen Kexin began to be interested in architecture and environmental art design. In her spare time, she often painted architectural sketches at Jinshan Middle School, surrounded by mountains and seas, and often went to the arcade streets and alleys of the old city of Shantou to experience the creative power brought by environmental art designers to the humanistic environment.

No matter what field the designers they become, in Chen Kexin’s opinion, they all have one thing in common – they seem to be able to wield the magic wand in their hands to make the world a better place. It is also through design that I hope to make the world a better sense of mission that makes Chen Kexin firmly believe in becoming a designer.

Dream-chasing journey

Go to Beijing alone for 9 months

Brave people can always let their dreams come true. Chen Kexin’s persistence in her dream also touched her parents. They gradually changed from initial surprise and opposition to agreement and support.

For her parents’ support, Chen Kexin said that she was always grateful, just as she wrote in a thank you letter: “For my dream, they looked for studios, and were familiar with the market. They resolutely sent my daughter, who had no artistic background in the family and had a reckless courage, to Beijing, thousands of miles away. My son was worried about her mother, and my every move made them worry, and my parents always overcome all difficulties for me and look back at the warm harbor and strong backing.”

It is indeed just like Chen Kexin wrote in her letter to thank her parents, her path to pursue her dreams is destined to be a lonely and arduous journey: when the classmates sat in the school classroom and prepared for the college entrance examination, she carried her bags and went to Beijing alone, drawing lines and smearing colors in the narrow studio.

Compared with the lively classroom atmosphere in the school, life in the Beijing studio seems boring. Chen Kexin told reporters that sheThe daily art courses range from 8 am to 10:30 pm. They learn sketching and colors during the day, and sketching classes at night. They only have an hour off at noon. They also have to complete the homework assigned by the teacher after class every night. They often do not sleep until two o’clock in the night, and they are all on weekends, which can be called “devil’s special training.”

“Every morning, Babaylan doesn’t have time to have breakfast because she is so sleepy! And her whole face is dark every day.” Chen Kexin admitted that in nine months, she encountered a bottleneck period almost every month, “I just feel that I can’t draw well no matter how I draw, and I want to give up every day!” Despite this, when her parents asked whether she wanted to give up, she still refused decisively every time, but occasionally shed tears of grievance on the phone.

Finally, hard work pays off. After nine months of hard work, Chen Kexin successfully achieved 47th national design rankings in Tsinghua University’s Academy of Fine Arts, and also obtained the Architecture Certificate and Urban Art Design Certificate.

It is March this year when I return from my studies, and there are only three months before the college entrance examination. In order to complete the review, during the last three-month sprint period, Chen Kexin “makes up” at school almost every day, and even did not go home on weekends. In addition to borrowing wrong questions from her classmates to review, she also checked for omissions and made up for the missing items through online classes, and tried her best to catch up with the review progress of other students. There was almost no leisure activities during this period.

Finally, after three months of sudden review, Chen Kexin and her classmates walked into the college entrance examination room. It is understood that this year’s college entrance examination department calculates the total scores of professional courses and cultural courses for the first time. In the end, Chen Kexin won the first place in the province with a total score of 613 points and was successfully admitted to Tsinghua University. Chen Kexin’s score made teachers and classmates say “unexpectedly.”

In this regard, Chen Kexin believes that the most important reason why she can achieve such results in just three months is to maintain a firm will and believe that as long as she works hard, there will be rewards. When you are in your first and second year of high school, you must first lay a solid foundation in the cultural courses, because the scores in cultural courses are the key to the final distance between candidates.
